Ethiopia - Day 5 - Orphange Visits

Our international agency America World works with three different orphanages in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: Kids Care, Gelgela, and Kingdom Vision. Our boys were from Kingdom Vision and with that visit being scheduled for the afternoon along with Gelgela, we had some morning free time. And I don't think the following picture of from Thursday as the boys have different shirts on in the two pictures after - oops! This must be from Embassy Day!!

Mommy actually spent time with the boys while Daddy went to the older children's Transition Home and finished the mural he had started on Monday, a beach scene on the wall in front of the children's sand box (and no we don't have a picture - we're going to ask someone on the next travel group to snap one off for us!)

Ryan was so proud to have hooked a fish:

After lunch at the Guest House we waited around in the lobby and front patio area for what we thought would be the time we would leave for the other two orphanages. We should have asked what time we were leaving! It was later than we had thought and than we all received a call saying it would be a little later than that. So we headed upstairs for a quick nap:

Then we actually ended up spending so much time at Gelgela that there wasn't anyone at the America World office to tell our driver how to get to Kingdom Vision orphanage. So we had to be rescheduled until the next morning. I will admit it was a bit disappointing.
Thoughts/Advice to those coming after:
1. I think this is a good day to hire a driver (America World provides a list of other Christian drivers) and take advantage of some of the other things to do in Addis, especially if you do not care to visit all the orphanages. If we had it to do again, we would have gone to the Lion Zoo after lunch.
2. If you are only going to the orphanage in the afternoon, ask what time you will be leaving.
3. Remember that everything can still not go exactly as planned even when you already have your children!
4. You pray a lot for orphans on this day.
